Renewable energy adoption can cut costs and boost industrial growth
Industries in Gujarat can significantly reduce operating costs and strengthen their global competitiveness by adopting renewable energy solutions, speakers said at a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The conference, titled “Cost Optimisation for Industries Using Renewable Energy – Practical Solutions & Business Opportunities through Solar”, brought together industry leaders, policymakers and renewable energy experts to discuss practical ways of lowering energy expenses through solar power.
Addressing the gathering, Dhrangadhra MLA Shri Prakash Varmora urged industries to embrace renewable energy as a key driver of sustainable growth. He said Gujarat has the potential to build globally competitive industries under the “Make in India” vision, provided business leaders continue investing in both technology and people.
“The future belongs to industries that grow sustainably. By adopting renewable energy and investing in leadership development, Gujarat can create enterprises that not only serve India but also compete globally,” Varmora said.
Delivering the special address, former IAS officer Sujit Gulati highlighted the importance of strong public-private partnerships in accelerating India’s transition to renewable energy. He stressed the need to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and renewable energy technologies.
Rinish Sekhani, Convenor of the CII Gujarat Textile Panel, welcomed participants and underlined the growing role of renewable energy in improving industrial competitiveness.
Dr Alok Das, Convenor of the CII Gujarat Renewable Energy Panel, presented an overview of the renewable energy sector and emerging opportunities for industries, while Kishorsinh Zala, President of the Gujarat Federation of Solar Industries, outlined the rapid growth of the solar energy ecosystem in the state.
Senior officials from the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) and Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) also participated in the conference.
The event featured presentations from renewable energy companies including Powertrac Industries Ltd., Grace Renewable Energy Ltd., Opera Energy Pvt. Ltd., Prozeal Green Energy Ltd. and RepoweringIndia Pvt. Ltd., showcasing solutions aimed at improving industrial energy efficiency.
Industry practitioners shared case studies during a dedicated experience-sharing session, offering practical insights into cost savings achieved through solar power adoption.
The conference concluded with B2B networking sessions, enabling participants to explore partnerships and business opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Speakers agreed that renewable energy is increasingly becoming a strategic business tool, helping industries reduce costs, improve sustainability and enhance long-term competitiveness.
